Introducing WorkWithLindsay.com!
On January 1st, 2021, I took my website, homegrownhealing.com, offline.
It was a tough decision to make. As some of you know, I had operated my practice under the name Homegrown Healing since 2015, which feels like a pretty long time at this point.
I still remember sitting on the floor of my old living room (two apartments ago), flipping through books, looking for any inspiration I could find to come up with the perfect name for my burgeoning business.
At the time, I was so enthusiastic about helping people heal holistically that I wanted to learn EVERYTHING. So I took just about any training I could afford to. Yoga teaching? Check. Reiki? Check. Herbalism? Check, check, check. Flower essences? Check. Healing Touch? Check, check, check, check, aaaand check (...that was a particularly rigorous one).
In other words, for a long time, the name Homegrown Healing fit. For several years, it accurately described my services and my approach to my practice... until eventually, it didn't anymore.
By the time I removed my website on January 1st, I had known for a while that "Homegrown Healing" no longer represented the work I was putting out into the world or the ways I was most called to serve my clients and students. As much as I valued the various traditions I had been trained in, and although my clients and students had benefitted greatly from my work in those modalities, I knew deep down that something was missing.
Over the course of a few years, I had become seriously interested in the impact that trauma has on my clients' lives (as well as my own). Specifically how the painful experiences that we've had in relationships, especially at pivotal moments in our development, continue to influence the mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns we engage in today.
-
Patterns like constantly striving and overworking to the point of exhaustion and burnout in order to prove our worth (either to ourselves or others).
-
Patterns like saying "yes" when we'd really rather say "no," because we're more committed to other peoples' comfort than our own happiness.
-
Then there's the emotional responses that keep us feeling stuck; the guilt and shame so many of us carry around speaking up, advocating for our needs, or setting boundaries in relationships.
-
And to top it all off, the accumulation of stressors in our lives (because modern life is nothing if not stressful!) and the frustration that follows when we're unable to adequately navigate this stress... because where would we have learned those skills? Most of us were never taught how to really take care of ourselves in meaningful ways, let alone actually resolve the patterns that have been keeping us stuck for so long, that it feels like they're "just who we are."
So inevitably, we continue to struggle, and all the yoga, meditation, and energy healing in the world can only do so much to help us.
Don't get me wrong... these practices DO help (for many, though not all of us). And I still make use of them with my clients when appropriate, as they often serve as a supportive complement to deeper work.
But wouldn't it be nice to not feel so anxious, overwhelmed, and insecure in the first place? To actually live a life of more ease, joy, confidence, and pleasure, by default, without having to constantly work at it? This deeper level of healing is possible, and I was determined to gain the necessary skills so that I could help facilitate it.
This led me to pursue training in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), which addresses healing developmental and relational trauma (also known as complex trauma). I now hold the credential of a NARM-Informed Practitioner.
These days, my one-on-one work typically takes the form of trauma-centered, skills-based coaching. While I continue to incorporate other modalities into my client work, including somatic practices in particular, it is NARM that serves as the powerfully supportive relational foundation for my clients' healing.
Because of all the shifts that I've described here, I knew it was time to say goodbye to the name Homegrown Healing, and to really step into my own. Going forward, I will simply be working under my own name, Lindsay Tauscher.
After many months of hard work, I'm over-the-moon excited to welcome you to workwithlindsay.com! I sincerely hope this new, more authentic expression of myself and my work will help my clients—including you—feel seen and supported at the highest possible level.
